This the handwritten transcription of the inventory and appraisal of the estate of Mottrom Ball contained in the Will Books held at the Fairfax Circuit Court Historic Records Center. The inventory and appraisal was conducted by William Swink, James Thrift, and Richard Hirst on Dec. 29, 1842 and was returned and ordered to be recorded on Feb. 19, 1844 . This document also includes a record of items sold at a sale held on Dec. 29, 1842 and their purchasers, and a list of items taken by Mrs. M. C. Ball.
It does not appear that any of the enslaved people included in the inventory were sold or claimed at this point in the process. The PDF scan was performed by and obtained from the Fairfax Circuit Court Historic Records Center.
